Standard Operating Procedures
In 2012, during Year 1 of the CMRSWC project, a number of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were developed to guide communities towards meeting the six minimum control measures in the 2003 MS4 Permit.

Some of the SOPs were created in anticipation for what is to come in the next permit.  However, others will need to be updated to reflect the intent and provisions of the new permit. We will update the date and version number in the footer of each document when the files are updated.

You may notice that SOP 8 (Managing Private Carwash Events) has not been posted.  This SOP addresses a practice- local businesses hosting fundraiser car wash events for community organizations- that is very sensitive to some MS4 communities, and one that makes it politically difficult to comply with the 2003 MS4 Permit without creating ill will within the community.  The SOP does not encourage non-compliance, but it does describe alternative Best Management Practices that can help a permittee that is not in compliance to minimize the environmental impact. For the reason that the SOP acknowledges potential noncompliance, the CMRSWC Steering Committee has voted to not make this SOP available on the website.  For more information on this, please contact either Brad Stone or Aubrey Strause.

Click on the links below for a PDF of each SOP narrative and any inspection forms associated with it.  A Word version of the SOPs is located below the PDFs.

Please use discretion when using these forms, and make sure that you are familiar with the Disclaimers that apply to all CMRSWC products.
